OFR is fighting a growing problem of financial and investment fraud against consumers. A consumer's first line of defense against fraud is education. The more you know about credit, banking and investing, the more likely you can increase savings, buy a house, improve your financial health and avoid becoming a victim of financial fraud.
Each year, OFR conducts outreach for various groups such as Florida's seniors, military, youth, minorities and the general population. Visit our Consumer News page to learn more about events in your area or our Request a Speaker page to request a presentation on a variety of financial topics. OFR also has many partners in Florida and nationwide. Visit our Consumer and Industry Links page to learn about other organizations that deal with financial issues.
Educating regulated industries is also an important part of effective regulation. Each Division has the responsibility of ensuring the financial professionals it regulates operate in compliance with state laws and regulations. It is important that the financial industry is aware of changes in rules and regulations that govern their industry. OFR promotes open and ongoing communications with industry associations and organizations, including participating in training seminars and compliance meetings and producing informational material. To learn more, visit our OFR-Regulated Industries or Industry News pages.
OFR's regional offices also form local community partnerships to promote grassroots education and awareness initiatives.
